STERANIOS 2% is a ready-to-use cold disinfection solution based on glutaraldehyde, designed for the high-level disinfection of heat-sensitive medical devices. It is used by immersion in a dedicated soaking tray for surgical, medical and endoscopic equipment.

The solution must be used in combination with a pre-cleaning disinfectant detergent. The soaking bath can be kept for up to 7 days, provided that the glutaraldehyde concentration is regularly checked using reactive test strips.

Microbiological activity

  • Bactericidal (EN 13727, EN 14561, Helicobacter pylori): active in 10 minutes
  • Mycobactericidal (EN 14348, EN 14563, Mycobacterium massiliense): active in 10 minutes
  • Fungicidal (EN 13624, EN 14562): active in 10 minutes
  • Virucidal (EN 14476): active in 10 minutes
  • Sporicidal: demonstrated after 1 hour at 20 °C (NF T 72-230/231, EN 13704)

Directions for use

  1. Pre-disinfection: clean the medical device using a suitable pre-disinfectant detergent, then rinse thoroughly. For endoscopic equipment: brush and irrigate.
  2. Disinfection: pour STERANIOS 2% into a dedicated soaking tray and cover. Contact time: 10 minutes.
  3. Rinsing: rinse thoroughly with sterile or filtered water (0.2 µm), inside and outside for endoscopes.
  4. Drying and storage: wipe with a single-use sterile cloth and store aseptically until next use.
